  • Day-old brioche bread - 4 slices
  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Milk - 240 ml (1 cup)
  • Vanilla extract - 5 ml (1 tsp)
  • Cinnamon - 2 g (1/2 tsp)
  • Nutmeg - 1 g (1/4 tsp)
  • Maple syrup - 30 ml (2 tbsp) + extra for serving
  • Butter - 15 g (1 tbsp), for greasing
  • Fresh berries (optional) - 100 g

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a small baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the brioche bread into cubes and place them evenly in the greased baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are saturated. Gently press down with a fork if needed.
  5. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to soak up the liquid.
