Ingredients
- White fish fillets (like cod or haddock) - 300 grams
- Greek yogurt - 150 grams
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated - 1 tablespoon
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium
- Canned crushed tomatoes - 200 grams
- Coconut milk - 100 ml
- Fresh cilantro, chopped - for garnish
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to create a marinade.
- Add the fish fillets to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the marinated fish fillets to the skillet and cook for about 3 minutes on each side until they are cooked through. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes, then stir in the coconut milk and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Return the cooked fish to the skillet, gently mixing it with the sauce. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving. Serve hot with rice or naan.
