  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cold sparkling water - 150 ml
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
  • Cabbage (shredded) - 1 cup
  • Fresh cilantro (chopped) - 1/4 cup
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges
  • Avocado (sliced) - 1/2
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt - 4 tablespoons
  • Hot sauce - to taste

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine corn flour, rice flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and chili powder.
  2. Gradually whisk in the cold sparkling water until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.
  3. Cut the fish fillets into strips and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Dip each fish strip into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place in the hot oil.
  6. Fry the fish strips for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds on each side.
  8. Assemble the tacos by placing a few strips of fried fish on each tortilla, followed by shredded cabbage, avocado slices, and chopped cilantro.
  9. Drizzle with sour cream or Greek yogurt and add hot sauce to taste.
  10. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
