Ingredients
- Fresh white fish (such as cod or tilapia) - 200 grams
- Fresh lime juice - 60 ml
- Fresh lemon juice - 30 ml
- Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Cilantro - 30 grams, chopped
- Jalapeño pepper - 1 small, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- Cherry tomatoes - 100 grams, quartered
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (to taste)
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon (to taste)
- Avocado - 1 medium, diced
- Tortilla chips - for serving
Steps
- Begin by cutting the fresh fish into small, bite-sized cubes and place them in a glass or ceramic bowl.
- Pour the lime juice and lemon juice over the fish, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the fish to 'cook' in the citrus juices.
- While the fish is marinating, prepare the vegetables. Finely chop the red onion, cilantro, and jalapeño pepper, and quarter the cherry tomatoes.
- After 15 minutes, check the fish; it should appear opaque and slightly firm. Add the red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, and cherry tomatoes to the bowl.
- Season the mixture with salt and black pepper, then gently fold in the diced avocado.
- Serve the ceviche immediately with tortilla chips on the side for scooping.
