Ingredients
- Chickpeas (cooked) - 240 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Fresh parsley - 30 grams
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
- Tahini - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a food processor, combine the cooked chickpeas, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is coarsely blended but not pureed.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and refrigerate for 15 minutes to firm up.
- While the mixture chills, prepare the tahini sauce by whisking together tahini, lemon juice, and water in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust consistency with more water if needed.
- Once chilled, shape the chickpea mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Fry the falafel balls for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the falafel from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with the tahini sauce on the side.
