Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (cooked) - 240 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Fresh parsley - 30 grams
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Tahini - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine the cooked chickpeas, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is coarsely blended but not pureed.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and refrigerate for 15 minutes to firm up.
  3. While the mixture chills, prepare the tahini sauce by whisking together tahini, lemon juice, and water in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust consistency with more water if needed.
  4. Once chilled, shape the chickpea mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
  5. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Fry the falafel balls for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the falafel from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with the tahini sauce on the side.
