- Carrot - 1 medium (100g)
- Spinach - 50g
- Onion - 1 small (50g)
- Chickpea flour - 100g
- Rice flour - 30g
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 150ml
- Oil for frying - 500ml (for deep frying)
Steps
- Peel and slice the potato and carrot into thin strips. Chop the spinach and onion finely.
- In a large bowl, combine chickpea flour, rice flour, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Add the sliced vegetables to the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until hot (about 180°C or 350°F).
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the vegetable-batter mixture into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- Remove the pakoras with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with chutney or yogurt sauce.
