- Firm tofu - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Maple syrup - 30 ml
- Apple cider vinegar - 15 ml
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 40 grams
- Olive oil - 30 ml
- BBQ sauce - 120 ml
- Fresh parsley - for garnish
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Press the tofu for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into thin rib-like strips.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Marinate the tofu strips in the mixture for at least 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, coat the marinated tofu strips with cornstarch until evenly covered.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat and sear the cornstarch-coated tofu strips for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer the seared tofu to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush generously with BBQ sauce.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then flip the tofu and brush with more BBQ sauce, baking for an additional 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
