Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons

  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1 (sliced)
  • Avocado - 1/2 (sliced)
  • Vegan mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into two equal slabs.
  2. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Coat each tofu slab in the marinade, ensuring even coverage, and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat, then add the marinated tofu slabs.
  5. Cook the tofu for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. While the tofu is cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a crispy tofu slab on each bun, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, avocado, vegan mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard.
  8. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
