- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- BBQ sauce - 4 tablespoons
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Slice the tempeh into 1 cm thick strips resembling ribs.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Add the tempeh strips to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with olive oil until a paste forms.
- Remove the tempeh from the marinade and coat each strip with the cornstarch mixture.
- Place the coated tempeh strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15 minutes, flip the strips, and bake for another 10 minutes until crispy.
- During the last 5 minutes of baking, brush the tempeh ribs with BBQ sauce.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
