  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Buttermilk - 100 milliliters
  • Vegetable oil - 500 milliliters (for frying)

Steps

  1. Wash and slice the fresh okra into 1/2 inch thick rounds.
  2. In a bowl, combine rice flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together until well combined.
  4. Dip each okra slice into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat thoroughly with the flour mixture.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  6. Fry the coated okra slices in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
