Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (e.g., cod or haddock) - 300 grams
  • Gluten-free breadcrumbs - 1 cup
  • Egg - 1 large
  • All-purpose gluten-free flour - 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Gluten-free hamburger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Tartar sauce - 4 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine the gluten-free flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg and add lemon juice.
  4. Place gluten-free breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Dredge each fish fillet in the seasoned flour, then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded fish fillets.
  7. Fry the fillets for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. While the fish is cooking, toast the gluten-free buns in a toaster or on a dry skillet until lightly browned.
  9. Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a fried fish fillet, a slice of tomato, and a generous dollop of tartar sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
  10. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
