- water - 120 ml
- unsalted butter - 30 g
- granulated sugar - 10 g
- all-purpose flour - 100 g
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- large egg - 1
- cinnamon powder - 1 tsp
- granulated sugar (for coating) - 50 g
- vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium until the butter is melted and the mixture is boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a dough forms. Let it cool for a few minutes.
- Add the egg to the dough and mix until fully incorporated and smooth.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and 50 g of sugar for the coating.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Carefully pipe 10 cm long strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting the ends with scissors.
- Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- While still warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.
- Serve warm with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping.
