  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon (4g)
  • Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon (2g)
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon (1g)
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon (2g)
  • Milk - 3/4 cup (180ml)
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons (30ml)
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon (5ml)
  • Brown sugar - 1/4 cup (50g)
  • Unsalted butter - 2 tablespoons (28g), melted
  • Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup (60g)
  • Cream cheese - 2 tablespoons (30g)
  • Water - 1-2 tablespoons (15-30ml) for glaze

Steps

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and melted butter to create a cinnamon filling.
  5. Preheat the waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Pour half of the waffle batter onto the preheated waffle iron, then drizzle a few spoonfuls of the cinnamon filling on top, followed by more batter to cover it.
  7. Close the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically for about 4-5 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Remove the waffle and repeat the process with the remaining batter and filling.
  9. For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar, cream cheese, and enough water to reach a drizzling consistency.
  10. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the warm waffles and serve immediately.
