- Water - 2 cups (500ml)
- Milk (dairy or non-dairy) - 1 cup (250ml)
- Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Brown sugar or maple syrup - 2 tablespoons (30g)
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Chopped walnuts or pecans - 2 tablespoons (15g)
- Raisins or chopped apples - 1/2 cup (75g)
- Cream cheese (optional) - 2 tablespoons (30g)
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats, water, and milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and stir in the ground cinnamon, brown sugar or maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
- Cook the oatmeal for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped walnuts or pecans and raisins or chopped apples.
- Serve the oatmeal in bowls and, if desired, top with a dollop of cream cheese for a creamy finish.
