Ingredients

  • Water - 2 cups (500ml)
  • Milk (dairy or non-dairy) - 1 cup (250ml)
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar or maple syrup - 2 tablespoons (30g)
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped walnuts or pecans - 2 tablespoons (15g)
  • Raisins or chopped apples - 1/2 cup (75g)
  • Cream cheese (optional) - 2 tablespoons (30g)

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the rolled oats, water, and milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and stir in the ground cinnamon, brown sugar or maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
  3. Cook the oatmeal for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped walnuts or pecans and raisins or chopped apples.
  5. Serve the oatmeal in bowls and, if desired, top with a dollop of cream cheese for a creamy finish.
