Ingredients

  • Hazelnuts - 100 grams
  • Cocoa powder - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until they are fragrant and slightly browned.
  2. Remove the hazelnuts from the oven and let them cool slightly. Once cooled, place them in a clean kitchen towel and rub them to remove most of the skins.
  3. In a food processor, combine the roasted hazelnuts, cocoa powder, maple syrup, honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.
  4. While the processor is running, slowly drizzle in the melted coconut oil until fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more maple syrup or honey.
  6. Transfer the spread to a clean jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
