Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the chocolate filling evenly over the dough, then roll it tightly into a log.
- Cut the log into bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch thick, and place them cut-side up in a greased muffin tin.
- Let the bites rise for another 10-15 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
