- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Ground paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Ground turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Pita bread - 2 pieces
- Tomato - 1 medium, diced
- Cucumber - 1 medium, diced
- Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Tahini sauce - 4 tablespoons
Steps
- In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, minced garlic, ground cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, olive oil, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice to create a marinade.
- Cut the chicken breast into thin strips and add them to the marinade. Mix well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until fully cooked and slightly charred.
- While the chicken is cooking, prepare the pita bread by warming it in a separate pan for 1-2 minutes on each side or in the oven.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
- To assemble, place the warm pita bread on a plate, add the sliced chicken, and top with diced tomato, cucumber, red onion, and fresh parsley.
- Drizzle tahini sauce over the top, then fold the pita and enjoy your homemade Chicken Shawarma!
