Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 1 1/2 cups
  • Warm water - 3/4 cup
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Active dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Spinach - 1 cup, chopped
  • Mushrooms - 1/2 cup, sliced
  • Red bell pepper - 1/2 cup, diced
  • Zucchini - 1/2 cup, diced
  • Low-fat mozzarella cheese - 1 cup, shredded
  • Low-fat turkey sausage - 100 grams, crumbled
  • Crushed tomatoes - 1 cup
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Basil - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
  5. Roll out the dough into a thick disc and place it in a 9-inch (23 cm) deep dish pizza pan, pressing it up the sides.
  6. Spread the crushed tomatoes on the bottom of the crust, then layer with spinach, mushrooms, bell pepper, zucchini, and turkey sausage.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by oregano, basil, and black pepper.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  9. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve.
