  • Milk - 240 ml
  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Granulated sugar - 50 grams
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Butter - 20 grams, melted
  • Raisins - 30 grams
  • Powdered sugar - for dusting (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cubed challah bread and raisins to the mixture, gently folding to coat the bread evenly. Let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  4. Grease a small baking dish with melted butter, then transfer the bread mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Drizzle any remaining melted butter over the top of the mixture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
