Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 400 grams
  • Yellow mustard - 60 ml
  • Apple cider vinegar - 30 ml
  • Maple syrup - 15 ml
  • Olive oil - 15 ml
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coleslaw mix - 200 grams
  • Vegan mayonnaise - 30 ml
  • Salt and pepper to taste - to preference
  • Buns (dairy-free) - 2

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix together yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt to create the marinade.
  3. Place the tofu slices in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. While the tofu is marinating, prepare the coleslaw by mixing the coleslaw mix with vegan mayonnaise, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Preheat a grill or a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated tofu slices for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.
