Ingredients

  • Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Peel and slice the onions into thin rings.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and sprinkle with salt and sugar. Stir well to coat the onions.
  4. Cook the onions for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are soft, golden brown, and caramelized.
  5. Add the balsamic vinegar and thyme (if using) to the onions. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring to combine.
  6. Remove from heat and serve warm.
