Ingredients
- Sushi rice - 150g
- Rice vinegar - 15ml
- Sugar - 5g
- Salt - 1g
- Nori sheets - 2
- Imitation crab meat - 100g
- Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
- Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
- Sesame seeds - 10g
- Gluten-free soy sauce - 30ml
- Wasabi - to taste
- Pickled ginger - for serving
Steps
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then cook according to package instructions.
- In a small bowl, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt, stirring until dissolved. Once the rice is cooked, mix in this vinegar mixture and allow it to cool.
- Lay a bamboo sushi mat on a flat surface and place one nori sheet on top, shiny side down.
- Wet your hands to prevent sticking, then take a handful of sushi rice and spread it evenly over the nori, leaving a 2cm border at the top.
- Arrange the imitation crab meat, avocado slices, and cucumber strips in a line across the center of the rice.
- Carefully roll the sushi away from you, using the mat to help shape it tightly. Seal the edge with a little water.
- Repeat the process with the second nori sheet and remaining fillings.
- Using a sharp knife, slice each roll into 6-8 pieces, wiping the knife with a damp cloth after each cut.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds over the rolls and serve with gluten-free soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
