Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 1 small head
  • Ground turkey or beef - 250 grams
  • Cooked rice - 100 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato sauce - 400 grams
  • Diced tomatoes - 200 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable broth - 250 ml
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the whole cabbage. Blanch for about 5 minutes until the leaves are tender, then remove and let cool.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add ground turkey or beef to the skillet, cooking until browned. Mix in cooked rice, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper, stirring well to combine.
  5. In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom.
  6. Take a cabbage leaf, add a portion of the meat mixture, and roll it up tightly. Place seam-side down in the baking dish. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
  7. Pour the remaining tomato sauce and diced tomatoes over the cabbage rolls, then add vegetable broth around the edges.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  9. Once done, let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.
