- blue cheese - 50 grams, crumbled
- whole wheat burger buns - 2
- baby spinach - 50 grams
- tomato - 1, sliced
- red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
- garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- mustard - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the bison ground meat, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 2 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the bison patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F).
- During the last minute of cooking, place crumbled blue cheese on top of each patty, cover the skillet with a lid, and let it melt.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in a separate pan or under the broiler until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a bison patty on each bun, followed by baby spinach, tomato slices, and red onion. Add mustard if desired.
