Ingredients
- Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
- Ground beef (kosher) - 250 grams
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small (about 100 grams)
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Tomato (diced) - 1 medium (about 150 grams)
- Lettuce (shredded) - 1 cup
- Avocado (sliced) - 1 medium
- Sour cream (kosher) - 1/4 cup
- Fresh cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Lime (cut into wedges) - 1
Steps
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper, cooking for another 2 minutes to combine the flavors.
- While the beef is cooking, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the corn tortillas on a baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes or until crispy.
- Once the tortillas are crispy, remove them from the oven and start assembling the tostadas. Layer each tortilla with the seasoned beef, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and sliced avocado.
- Top each tostada with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.
- Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for extra zest.
