Ingredients

  • Corn tortillas - 4 pieces
  • Ground beef (kosher) - 250 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small (about 100 grams)
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Tomato (diced) - 1 medium (about 150 grams)
  • Lettuce (shredded) - 1 cup
  • Avocado (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Sour cream (kosher) - 1/4 cup
  • Fresh cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime (cut into wedges) - 1

Steps

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper, cooking for another 2 minutes to combine the flavors.
  5. While the beef is cooking, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the corn tortillas on a baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes or until crispy.
  6. Once the tortillas are crispy, remove them from the oven and start assembling the tostadas. Layer each tortilla with the seasoned beef, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and sliced avocado.
  7. Top each tostada with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.
  8. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for extra zest.
