Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams
  • Plain yogurt - 100 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, grated
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Wooden skewers - 4 (soaked in water for 30 minutes)

Steps

  1. Cut the beef sirloin into 2.5 cm cubes and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix the yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and vegetable oil to create the marinade.
  3. Add the beef cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
  4. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Thread the marinated beef onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  6. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  7. Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Serve the beef tikka skewers hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and accompanied by a yogurt sauce if desired.
