Ingredients

  • Beef short ribs - 800 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Liquid smoke - 1 teaspoon
  • Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
  • Beef broth - 250 ml
  • Sugar-free barbecue sauce - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a large bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, salt, and liquid smoke to create a rub.
  3. Pat the beef short ribs dry and rub the spice mixture all over the meat.
  4. In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the short ribs on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the short ribs and set aside. In the same pot, add apple cider vinegar and scrape the bottom to deglaze the pot.
  6. Return the short ribs to the pot and add beef broth and sugar-free barbecue sauce.
  7. Cover the pot and transfer it to the oven. Cook for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.
  8. Once done, remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
