Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • water - 100 milliliters
  • salt - 1 teaspoon
  • vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons (plus more for frying)
  • ground beef - 250 grams
  • onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
  • fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, then add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in cumin, coriander, garam masala, green chili, black pepper, and lemon juice. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and mix in chopped cilantro. Let the filling cool.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Roll out each ball into a thin circle, about 15 cm in diameter.
  6. Cut each circle in half to form two semi-circles. Take one semi-circle, form a cone by folding it and sealing the edge with a little water. Fill the cone with the beef mixture and seal the top edge by pressing it down.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
  8. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the samosas in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
