Ingredients
- all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- water - 100 milliliters
- salt - 1 teaspoon
- vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons (plus more for frying)
- ground beef - 250 grams
- onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
- fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, then add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in cumin, coriander, garam masala, green chili, black pepper, and lemon juice. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and mix in chopped cilantro. Let the filling cool.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Roll out each ball into a thin circle, about 15 cm in diameter.
- Cut each circle in half to form two semi-circles. Take one semi-circle, form a cone by folding it and sealing the edge with a little water. Fill the cone with the beef mixture and seal the top edge by pressing it down.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the samosas in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
