Ingredients
- Beef (top round or flank steak) - 500 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Worcestershire sauce - 30 ml
- Brown sugar - 15 grams
- Garlic powder - 5 grams
- Onion powder - 5 grams
- Black pepper - 2 grams
- Cayenne pepper - 1 gram
- Smoked paprika - 2 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
Steps
- Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1 cm thick, against the grain for optimal tenderness.
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and salt to create a marinade.
- Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged, and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your dehydrator to 70°C (160°F) or your oven to the lowest setting (around 60°C or 140°F).
- Remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Arrange the beef strips in a single layer on the dehydrator trays or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper if using an oven.
- Dehydrate the beef for 4 to 6 hours, flipping halfway through, until the jerky is dry and firm yet slightly pliable.
- Once done, let the jerky cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
