Ingredients

  • Beef (top round or flank steak) - 500 grams
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Worcestershire sauce - 30 ml
  • Brown sugar - 15 grams
  • Garlic powder - 5 grams
  • Onion powder - 5 grams
  • Black pepper - 2 grams
  • Cayenne pepper - 1 gram
  • Smoked paprika - 2 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams

Steps

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1 cm thick, against the grain for optimal tenderness.
  2. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and salt to create a marinade.
  3. Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged, and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  4. Preheat your dehydrator to 70°C (160°F) or your oven to the lowest setting (around 60°C or 140°F).
  5. Remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  6. Arrange the beef strips in a single layer on the dehydrator trays or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper if using an oven.
  7. Dehydrate the beef for 4 to 6 hours, flipping halfway through, until the jerky is dry and firm yet slightly pliable.
  8. Once done, let the jerky cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
