Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 250 grams, thinly sliced
  • Broccoli florets - 100 grams
  • Bell pepper (red or yellow) - 1 medium, sliced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Snow peas - 75 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce (low sodium) - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice (white or brown) - 1 cup (uncooked)
  • Water - 2 cups (for rice)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Sesame seeds - for garnish (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a saucepan, combine the rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
  2. While the rice cooks, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the broccoli, bell pepper, carrot, and snow peas. Stir-fry the vegetables for about 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  4. Return the partially cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, tossing everything together. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through and everything is well combined.
  5. Remove from heat and serve the stir-fry over the cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
