- Onion - 1 small, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Diced tomatoes - 200 grams (canned or fresh)
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cheddar cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
- Breadcrumbs - 2 tablespoons (optional)
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the diced carrots, zucchini, and bell pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.
- Add the diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top. If using, sprinkle the breadcrumbs for added crunch.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
