Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles - 4 sheets
  • Ground beef (Halal) - 250 grams
  • Fresh spinach - 200 grams
  • Tomato sauce - 400 grams
  • Ricotta cheese - 100 grams
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded - 100 grams
  • Parmesan cheese, grated - 50 grams
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Onion, chopped - 1 small
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Italian seasoning - 1 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1 large

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  6. In a separate pot, blanch the fresh spinach in boiling water for 1-2 minutes until wilted. Drain and set aside.
  7. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a small baking dish. Place 2 lasagna noodles on top.
  8. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the spinach, and then a third of the mozzarella cheese.
  9. Add another layer of meat sauce, followed by 2 more noodles, the remaining ricotta mixture, the rest of the spinach, and another third of the mozzarella.
  10. Top with the last layer of meat sauce, remaining mozzarella, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  11. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  13. Let the lasagna cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
