Ingredients
- Beef chuck, diced - 250 grams
- Mushrooms, sliced - 150 grams
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Carrot, diced - 1 small
- Celery, diced - 1 stalk
- Beef broth - 200 ml
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Frozen pie crusts - 2 (9-inch)
- Egg, beaten (for egg wash) - 1 large
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery, and sauté until softened (about 5 minutes).
- Add the diced beef to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in the sliced mushrooms, soy sauce, beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the beef is tender and the mixture has thickened slightly.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the filling cool for about 10 minutes.
- Place one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and fill it with the beef and mushroom mixture. Cover with the second pie crust, sealing the edges by crimping with a fork.
- Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape and brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
