Ingredients
- 2 large bell peppers - any color
- 250 grams ground beef
- 1/2 cup cooked rice
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Set aside.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked rice, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.
- Add half of the mozzarella cheese to the beef mixture and stir until melted.
- Stuff each bell pepper with the beef and rice mixture, packing it in tightly.
- Place the stuffed peppers upright in a baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over the tops of the peppers.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the peppers, and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
