Ingredients

  • 2 large bell peppers - any color
  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 1/2 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the cooked rice, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.
  6. Add half of the mozzarella cheese to the beef mixture and stir until melted.
  7. Stuff each bell pepper with the beef and rice mixture, packing it in tightly.
  8. Place the stuffed peppers upright in a baking dish. Pour tomato sauce over the tops of the peppers.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil, sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the peppers, and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
