Ingredients

  • Extra-firm tofu - 400 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • BBQ sauce - 100 grams
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then slice it into 1-inch thick steaks.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Place the tofu steaks in the marinade, making sure they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat, then lightly oil the grill grates.
  5. Remove the tofu from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, brushing with BBQ sauce during the last few minutes of cooking.
  6. Once grilled to your liking, remove the tofu steaks from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  7. Serve the tofu steaks topped with additional BBQ sauce and garnished with fresh parsley.
