- Extra-firm tofu - 400 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- BBQ sauce - 100 grams
- Fresh parsley - for garnish
Steps
- Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then slice it into 1-inch thick steaks.
- In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Place the tofu steaks in the marinade, making sure they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat, then lightly oil the grill grates.
- Remove the tofu from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, brushing with BBQ sauce during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Once grilled to your liking, remove the tofu steaks from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
- Serve the tofu steaks topped with additional BBQ sauce and garnished with fresh parsley.
