  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Beef broth - 250 ml
  • BBQ sauce - 150 ml
  • Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Bun - 2 (for serving)
  • Coleslaw - 100 grams (for serving)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to create a spice rub.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it's evenly coated.
  4. In a large, oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the brisket to the pot and sear on both sides until browned, about 3 minutes per side.
  6. Pour the beef broth into the pot, then cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.
  7. Cook the brisket in the oven for about 3 hours, or until it is fork-tender.
  8. Remove the pot from the oven and let the brisket rest for 15 minutes before shredding it with two forks.
  9. In a small bowl, mix the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and mustard together, then combine with the shredded brisket.
  10. Serve the BBQ pulled brisket on buns, topped with coleslaw.
