- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Beef broth - 250 ml
- BBQ sauce - 100 ml (ensure it's Halal certified)
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Burger buns - 2
- Coleslaw (optional) - 1 cup for topping
Steps
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Season the beef chuck roast with salt, black pepper, cumin, and smoked paprika. Add it to the skillet and sear on all sides until browned, about 3 minutes per side.
- Transfer the beef to a slow cooker. Pour in the sautéed onion and garlic, beef broth, BBQ sauce, and Worcestershire sauce over the beef.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
- Once cooked, remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.
- Toast the burger buns lightly. Serve the pulled beef on the buns, topped with coleslaw if desired.
