Ingredients

  • Pork belly - 500 grams
  • Brown sugar - 50 grams
  • Paprika - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
  • BBQ sauce - 100 grams
  • Water - 250 milliliters

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create a dry rub.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork belly, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  4. Place the pork belly in a baking dish and pour the apple cider vinegar and water around it.
  5. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
  6. After 2 hours, remove the foil and brush the BBQ sauce generously over the pork belly.
  7. Increase the oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) and return the pork belly to the oven, uncovered, for an additional 20-30 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  8. Once the pork belly is nicely caramelized, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. Serve the BBQ pork belly warm, drizzled with extra BBQ sauce if desired.
