Ingredients
- Beef short ribs - 1 kg
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 3 tablespoons
- Ketchup - 120 ml
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Liquid smoke - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 250 ml
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).
- In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the beef short ribs.
- In a separate bowl, combine the apple cider vinegar, honey, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and liquid smoke to make the barbecue sauce.
- In a large oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the short ribs on all sides until browned, about 4 minutes per side.
- Remove the ribs and set aside. In the same pot, add water and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom.
- Return the ribs to the pot, pour the barbecue sauce over them, and cover with a lid.
- Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and cook for 2 to 2.5 hours, until the ribs are tender and the meat is pulling away from the bone.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
