- Canned navy beans - 400 grams
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Barbecue sauce - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 small, diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cooked bacon - 50 grams, chopped (optional for added protein)
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the navy beans, smoked paprika, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, barbecue sauce, salt, and black pepper. If using, add the chopped cooked bacon.
- Mix everything well and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
