  • Canned navy beans - 400 grams
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Barbecue sauce - 100 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cooked bacon - 50 grams, chopped (optional for added protein)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the navy beans, smoked paprika, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, barbecue sauce, salt, and black pepper. If using, add the chopped cooked bacon.
  5. Mix everything well and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until bubbly and slightly caramelized on top.
