Ingredients

  • Brussels sprouts - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Balsamic vinegar - 3 tablespoons
  • Honey (or sugar substitute) - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Parmesan cheese (optional) - 2 tablespoons, grated

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half if they are large.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the Brussels sprouts, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the sprouts are evenly coated.
  4. Spread the Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet in a single layer and roast in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and tender, stirring halfway through.
  5. While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, prepare the balsamic glaze by combining balsamic vinegar and honey (or sugar substitute) in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened slightly.
  6. Once the Brussels sprouts are done, remove them from the oven and drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top. Toss gently to coat.
  7. If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the Brussels sprouts before serving.
