Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons gluten-free oats
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup water

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Core the apples, making sure not to pierce the bottom, and create a cavity for the filling.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, gluten-free oats, and chopped walnuts.
  4. Stuff each apple with the oat and walnut mixture, pressing down lightly to pack it in.
  5. Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish and dot each with a small piece of butter.
  6. Pour the water into the baking dish to create steam while baking.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the apples are tender and slightly caramelized.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
