- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Granulated sugar - 50 grams
- Instant yeast - 7 grams
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Milk - 100 ml, warm
- Unsalted butter - 50 grams, melted
- Egg - 1 large
- Chocolate hazelnut spread - 100 grams
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg wash - 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and the egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
- Once risen, roll the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over the dough and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the pieces upright in a greased muffin tin and let them rise again for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Brush the tops of the babka bites with the egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
