Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Granulated sugar - 50 grams
  • Instant yeast - 7 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Milk - 100 ml, warm
  • Unsalted butter - 50 grams, melted
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Chocolate hazelnut spread - 100 grams
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Egg wash - 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and the egg.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  6. Once risen, roll the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over the dough and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the pieces upright in a greased muffin tin and let them rise again for 15 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  11. Brush the tops of the babka bites with the egg wash.
  12. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
