Ingredients
- all-purpose flour - 125 grams
- salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- water - 60 milliliters
- vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced) - 2 medium (about 300 grams)
- granulated sugar - 50 grams
- ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- raisins - 30 grams
- walnuts (chopped) - 30 grams
- melted margarine - 2 tablespoons
- powdered sugar (for dusting) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the water and vegetable oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a separate bowl, mix the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and chopped walnuts until well combined.
- Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface into a thin rectangle, about 30x40 cm (12x16 inches).
- Brush the rolled-out dough with melted margarine, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the dough, then carefully roll the dough from one long side to the other, forming a log.
- Place the strudel seam-side down on the prepared baking tray. Brush the top with more melted margarine.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
