Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 125 grams
  • granulated sugar - 75 grams
  • baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • egg - 1 large
  • almond extract - 1 teaspoon
  • sliced almonds - 50 grams

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and almond extract together until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Fold in the sliced almonds until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Shape the dough into a log about 25 cm (10 inches) long and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes, then slice the log diagonally into 1.5 cm (0.5 inch) thick slices.
  9. Place the sliced biscotti back on the baking sheet, cut side down, and bake for an additional 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving.
