- all-purpose flour - 125 grams
- granulated sugar - 75 grams
- baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- egg - 1 large
- almond extract - 1 teaspoon
- sliced almonds - 50 grams
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and almond extract together until well combined.
- Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Fold in the sliced almonds until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Shape the dough into a log about 25 cm (10 inches) long and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes, then slice the log diagonally into 1.5 cm (0.5 inch) thick slices.
- Place the sliced biscotti back on the baking sheet, cut side down, and bake for an additional 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving.
